Bio
I was born to be an artist – or so my mother claims. Born in Oklahoma, the fifth of six children, I had 30 absences in kindergarten (due to staying home and making three-dimensional houses out of construction paper). At age twelve, I was living in Georgia where I stayed to earn my Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art at the University of West Georgia. My research in 2003 at the University of West Georgia led to the presentation of my photographic series Bellybuttons and Doughnuts at the National Conference for Undergraduate Research at the University of Utah. With no hesitation, I quickly began my graduate studies in Computer Art at New York’s School of Visual Arts where I graduated in 2006. And so my mother’s revelation begins to unfold...

Artist Statement
FF6699 is one of my favorite hexadecimal colors, or perfect pink as I like to call it. I enjoy anything glittery, sparkly, twinkly, or colorful. My mom says I used to try to eat glass Christmas ornaments when I was little because I thought if something looked pretty, it must taste good. I am naturally drawn to things in the world that in some way reflect light. It is light that brings joy to me. Truth and Intelligence are a form of that light that I seek. Much of art is spent focusing on the darkness and sorrow in the world and there is a lot of depth to that; but I also believe there is great depth to joy. With my art, I try to capture that light and spread it. I like to elevate the seemingly ordinary and simple things of the world and apparently I liked to eat glass as a child.
